In 2006, the four young men met in their early 20s through mutual friends at a remote Southern California warehouse. Elogy’s very first gathering was a memorable experience, as the members recount. It was extremely quiet in comparison to an actual Elogy practice these days, but their shy dispositions quickly vanished as this unassuming gathering turned into a life-altering experience.

Derek states, "It was a swift overtaking. We all immediately realized that whatever we were doing with our lives up to this point could not compare to the unearthing that just took place in a matter of moments. We had all played with countless other musicians, but those 45 minutes together birthed the universal conclusion that there were officially no other people on earth that we'd rather create and entrust our musical lives with."

Their technical prowess is impressive with classically trained pianists, multiple guitarists, drummers, bassists, even certified sound engineers, but it was more than just technicality that connected them. It was the intangibles—the optimism for the beautiful unknown along with creative ingenuity that ultimately sealed the union.

Now, while most bands are running around trying to create buzz with supercharged charisma and hair plastered across their faces, it’s more common to find Elogy members slaving away in a dark studio, masterminding audio or tweaking samples to their liking. They are their toughest critics and although very aware of the army of skilled sharpshooters it takes to make a band successful these days, they grin at the smoke and mirrors approach. With a semi-violent conviction, they are certain that writing great songs will create great fans and great fans will ultimately create a musical life worth living.
